Grading of the Undergraduate Field and Practice Courses
When the student enrolls in the senior practice sequence, he or she is embarking on a professional course of study that involves a combination of class, seminar, and practicum.
A separate grade will be assigned for each of the three courses involved in the series:
- SW 396, 397 & 398, Social Work Practice
- 4 credit hours, A-F grading
- SW 491A, B & C, Integrative Seminar (Fall, Winter, & Spring)
- 2 credit hours, A-F grading
- SW 492A, Field Practicum (Fall)
- 4 credit hours, credit/fail grading
- SW 492B, Field Practicum (Winter)
- 5 credit hours, credit/fail grading
- SW 492C, Field Practicum (Spring)
- 5 credit hours, credit/fail grading
As stated previously in this section, the field practicum grade is assigned by the field liaison and is largely based on a written evaluation from the field instructor at the end of the quarter (see "Evaluation of Student Performance in the Field Practicum" for complete grading explanations).
